Waste Connections is looking for a Jack of all trades, someone that can lead a small crew and is willing and able to get their hands dirty. In this role you will split your time between driving company trucks, wrenching on the fleet and leading a group of drivers. The Lead Driver/Mechanic is responsible to drive Waste Connections trucks (Roll off, Side Loaders and Buses) as well as provide general maintenance on the small fleet of vehicles in Dutch Harbor, AK.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead a small team of drivers
Drive company trucks when needed (Roll Off, Side Loaders and Buses)
Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles
Courteous interaction with our customers
Road test vehicles to trouble shoot problems and/or test repairs to ensure proper safe completion.
Mechanical repairs to all Waste Connections vehicles, to include independent diagnosis and repair of electrical and hydraulic systems, brake repair and replacement.
Following all appropriate safety guidelines and precautions, wearing required person protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining a neat and professional appearance at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Possess a minimum of a Class B Commercial Driver’s License
Have a clean driving and safety record
Mechanical knowledge and ability to maintain company vehicles in working condition
Able to work in all weather conditions
Previous leadership experience is a plus
Previous diesel maintenance experience
